FAQs

Can skin breathe under paint?

Yes! BodyPainting.com products are non-toxic and of the highest quality. Paint merely sits on top of the skin and nothing harmful will be absorbed – skin can breathe freely.

What if you're allergic to body paint?

If you have a known allergy or an allergic reaction to any of BodyPainting.com's products, DISCONTINUE USE IMMEDIATELY or DO NOT use BodyPainting.com's products. We use the absolute highest quality ingredients and products, but they should not be used by anyone with allergies!

How will I know if I have an allergic reaction to BodyPainting.com products?

You should always do a small test patch on the skin before using our products. If the skin becomes red, swollen and/or irritated then gently remove the paint, wash with soap and water and DISCONTINUE use.

Should I prepare my skin before I applying the paint?

Wash and dry your skin as usual and apply any standard, non-comedogenic skin lotion (such as Cetaphil, Lubriderm, Nivea, etc.). This is will allow the skin to adjust with the paint.

How many coats of paint will I need to use?

Everyone's skin is different and the colors/products you’ve chosen vary, but in general anywhere from 1-3 coats will createa durable and opaque coverage.

How long does the paint take to dry?

A number of factors affect the drying time of our products.Depending on the temperature and conditions, it usually takes 5 to 10 minutes per coat to dry. If you are applying more than one coat, let each coat dry completely before applying the next. You can use a hairdryer to help speed up the drying process.

Can you safely paint genitals or other sensitive areas of the body?

Yes - as long as you do a test patch first to ensure that no irritation or sensitivity exists, you should be able to paint any part of the body. Be sure to keep the paint out of eyes, nose, ears and all internal body cavities.

Do I need to follow special directions for taking photos?

Yes. When taking photos of your body or face paint, follow these steps to be sure you get the best results:

• Stage lights and strobe photography can penetrate translucent paint or lighter colors and appear splotchy. Use three or more coats.
• Glitter and stardust are very fine powders and will become airborne, causing refractions in the lens. Always remember to apply glitter or stardust in an area AWAY from the camera.
• Painting and shooting photos of paint can take a long time. Be ready to do touch-ups and remember to take care of the model to ensure he/she is warm and comfortable (provide water, snacks, etc.).

Does body paint feel hot or cold?

The high quality products themselves are neither hot nor cold, but temperatures in the room or air conditions may affect your comfort level when apply and wearing our paint. Always be sure to monitor your comfort level and take necessary steps to adjust accordingly.

What does it feel like to wear body paint?

Wearing body and/or face paint can be exhilarating and fun. It can feel like you’re wearing a very thin layer of clothing, but also can feel very freeing, as though you had nothing at all on.

How much does it take to cover a body?

Every body is different, and the number of coats necessary for adequate coverage varies with the desired effect. Please consult the individual product descriptions for coverage guidelines.

How long will the paint stay on?

Generally speaking, paint will last at least several hours before lifting from the skin, and will probably stay on until you remove it with soap and water or an alternate remover. Again, this depends on the conditions you're wearing the paint in and your individual skin and body type.

How long can you safely wear body or face paint?

As long as you're comfortable, you should be safe. Your skin will breathe under the paint.

What's the best way to apply body or face paint?

You can achieve a variety of effects using different brushes or applicators.Use a foam brush or foam roller for smooth, even application. Be sure to have a good supply of fresh, clean brushes. An airbrush is another great application method. Body paint can also be applied with the hands, to create interesting textures and effects.

You may experience irritation from the brush or the paint may dry prematurely in the brush.

ABOUT REMOVAL

How do I remove the paint?

Our high quality products wash off with soap and water; the moisture of the soap and water will allow it to release from the skin. You can use additional cleaning products like mineral oil or rubbing alcohol if you'd like but it may not be necessary.

Will it pull out body hair?

No! Our products rest on top of the skin and do not interfere with perspiration or hair follicles. Removal WILL NOT result in hair loss.

ABOUT PRODUCT USES AND FORMULATION

Can the colors be mixed?

Yes! Get creative! You can mix colors out of the jar to create custom tones. We also sell different kits to give you ideas.

Can you spray it on with an airbrush?

Yes. Use a brush capable of heavier viscosity outputs, such as an automotive touchup brush. Generally the paint will need no thinning. Be sure to keep the pressure low to avoid injury and clean the tip of the airbrush gun so it doesn't clog.
